Vincenzo Barbuto is a Ph.D. Student in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) at the Department of Computer, Modeling, Electronic, and System Engineering (DIMES), University of Calabria, Italy. He is a member of Smart, Pervasive and Mobile systems Engineering (SPEME) Laboratory since November 2022. Additionally, he holds membership in the prestigious Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), with a specific affiliation to the Systems, Man, and Cybernetics (SMC) society. He is vice-president of IEEE University of Calabria Student Branch. His research focuses on developing and implementing AI techniques that can operate directly on data sources, such as sensors and IoT devices, to enable real-time and efficient decision-making at the network edge.
I designed and implemented a traffic monitoring system based on digital twin technology. This system detects and counts vehicles in real-time, monitors traffic pollution, and measures environmental parameters. This experience allowed me to specialize in creating, querying, and managing digital twins. I also gained expertise in general-purpose and synthetic sensing techniques, as well as in reverse digital twin creation.
As a full-stack developer, I have participated in various projects involving both web-based and desktop applications. I have gained expertise with front-end frameworks such as Angular, and I have experience optimizing systems to improve their performance and efficiency. Additionally, I possess a strong understanding of threading and parallelism in programming languages such as C#. I know how to utilize SQL bulk functions to streamline database operations.
